by PhilThib
Hi again,
Our friend Calvinus has again produced a good improvement for the game. patch 1.04g is now available, and will show even more features from 1.04f
You can get it here:
http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/3rdParty/WW1/Patches/WW1_Patch_v1.0.4g.exe
However, our friend is also on the verge of exhaustion, with 16h+ working days since a month.
I have urged him to take 2 days off completely this week-end
So please be patient, there might be no or very limited response in the next couple of days (I'll do my best to respond here)
Thanks you all for your support

Your touch ups with 104 G did the job with the Avi files. Previously, I watched the intro using WMP as it would not play in the game for me-it was a tiny block in the top left of my screen. It played fine, but it did not show the map as the background for the film (in WMP).
I just installed G, and it worked-for the first time. Job well done.
Now, rest (relax, eat, and get some fresh air). The game will still be here Monday morning.

Absurd! Current version 1.04G
brutally forces the viewport size of the AVI player to the monitor resolution!!!!

This damned DivX codec is making me crazy....

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the game to be sure... But nothing changes : black screen and music.
Don't worry, this bug is of a very small importance...

I installed 1.0.4g with no problem. Thanks to all at AGEOD for continuing to polish this gem of a game!
One thing: despite the new patch being installed, on the screen where one select's "Single Player" or "Multiplayer", it still says "Version 1.0.4a" at the bottom?
Not a big deal of course, but that should now show "1.0.4g" now right?

Again the patch install problems????
Be sure the patch is installed..... It seems no...
Right-click on WW1.exe, select "Properties" and then go to the "Version" panel, the version must be 1.0.4.5, and the modification date must be 4 Dec. 2008 h21:56:50 CET
Other way to check if the patch is installed, run the WW1 Configurator, you must see a new check-box "AI Logs"...

Under 1.04f, my AVI worked as Maestro describes below.

However, under 1.04g I do not even get the tiny block in the top left of my screen anymore. The screen is now completely black and all I get is the music. Not sure what I can do since it should be working like Maestro's, but it's not.

Who cares about the intro anyway? :P
And the patch does display as "1.04g" so whoever has different lettering did not correctly install it.

A. It's not that big a deal, but the intro runs under WMP, just not in game. I read some earlier threads about this and Calvinus stated that if it ran under WMP, it had to be a DirectShow issue. Well, I've never heard of DirectShow and don't even know if it's installed on my PC. How can one tell?
B. My game shows 1.0.4g on the title screen.

I agree - the intro doesn't play on my laptop (not installed the game on the desktop yet) but how important is that?? It's the gameplay that matters - and I think great credit should go to Calvinus for the incredible frequency of patches that have come out so far

Well, out of curiosity I updated my nVidia display drivers to the very latest and now the AVI plays as it should (although the game still minimizes as soon as it starts). Go figure.

And just now I restarted the game and the AVI video doesn't play again. Something going on with video drivers it would seem since it played the video the first time after new drivers, but not subsequently.

I got this. However a simple press of the 'windows' key (to bring up the start menu - basically to get to desktop without alt-tab) and then re-clicking WW1 on the resulting toolbar to bring the game back up 'refreshes' the intro video so you can see it as well as hear it.

Using version 1.04g, I still cant't move an army into an area containing a land detachement of a different army.

But I could see some of the AI's armys being stacked in one province.
Of course, I'm in the WEGO mode.
In addition I'd like to add that sometimes I still get the bug that screws up the interface (all of a sudden some buttons are where they should definitely not be ... for example the event cards or the three buttons that are usually in the lower right corner). A while ago somebody reported he got this bug by pressing F6 instead of F5 for quicksaving. I get it randomly. It can be solved by reloading, so it is not too much of a problem.
Thanks for the outstanding support of this game, I'm looking forward to even more improvements!

Very, very, very minor point; but I don't see the Caruso rendition of "Over There" in the music file. I have patched to 1.04g.

Amazing! This worked Ayeshteni. Now, if Calvinus could just make it so the game doesn't start minimized (I'm running WinXP, don't know if that matters) maybe the problem would be solved.

Of different nationalities??
Stacking of multi-armies work if the nationality is the same...

Damn! You are right! I forgot to add it to the patch and I added it only to the full Installer!
Ok, I'm going to rebuild the patch so including the new MP3.

In fact the game is supposed to start running not minimized. This happens on some PCs only...
