Is there a FOW setting so I do not see the AI warplans? I searched around on the options page but could not find it.

No. You are supposed to learn them after the selection is done.

Interesting...I would think it would be better if you were left in the dark about them, unless perhaps you played a "Sidney Reilly-Ace of Spies" event card....

I wondered about this myself. I suppose it's a carry-over from the board game rules, but it seems odd in a computer game. Some element of surprise here (as in real life) would be nice.

Agreed. The Sidney Reilly card would be pretty cool too.

Army intelligence would know the location of the enemies major armies. So I don't see the problem. We are talking about warplans that were months(years) in planning, surely info would leak out. Security wasn't like it is later.Foreign observers were even attached to some armies. To know the armies general location and an idea of their initial plan is not unrealistic.

Knowing troop dispositions is one thing, but knowing the actual Warplans? On that I will simply disagree.....
But, here is the question....I have not played the game enough to have actually replayed scenarios yet, but does the AI select Warplans randomly when you restart a game? In other words, is the AI locked into the Schlieffen Plan or can it select an alternative? Now if the AI is locked into one plan, then it really makes no difference, but if the AI can select any of the Warplans that a Human player can, then I will have to disagree with the notion that we should be able to know what plan the AI has chosen...

The AI selects alternatives.
And I would be strongly against NOT knowing warplans. I mean, what is the Schlieffen Plan, game-wise? Move through Belgium toward Paris.
The real French knew this much. They were hoping for it. Now, lets assume Crownprince Plan, would not it be clear to them that all German forces are massed on their borders? Or Rupprecht: would not they learn the ultimatum to Switzerland? Etc.
