Observations with 1.0.4: non-ending sub-phase, most units locked up

All the rather rough introduction of WW1 nonewithstanding: Nice game!
The 7/24 online support is very ... dedicated.

Concerning V 1.0.4:

I'm playing recommended setting, 2 players grand campain, Entente side early Aug. 14, what seems to be 2nd military phase and

AI calculations seem to be finished, but I can't move on to the next phase not knowing what I'm expected to do.

Strangely nearly all land units on both sides are locked, besides: Serbs, German 1.-3. Army, British island garrisons and colonials.

Warplans:
Germany: offensive in the west w/o Belgium.
Habsburg: free variant
France: cautious variant
Russia: offensive against Habsburg (Rasputin?!)

Last phase a big Jutland naval battle took place after Germany played fleet sortie event card and GB entered the war.

Oh and before I played an delay enemy reinforcement card.

I could pm a saved game to Calvinus or PT.

Regards

Play in WEGO mode. I suspect you have the "Strictly turn-based" mode on.

Stricly-turn-based mode is to be checked and fixed for regression bugs due to the overall AI engine refactoring.

Otherwise, if you are playing in WEGO mode, check all mandatory attacks.

Sorry,

as I wrote

1. "strictly turn-based" is off.

2. As all units are locked, no red flags, no mandatory attacks.
(Only 1st-3rd German Army, Colonials, Serbs and British Island Guards are unlocked, but I'm playing Entente...)

Just like to say I have just had EXACTLY the same problem.

I was able to play several turns with 1.03 so I know that it is in the correct mode (WEGO) and that all mandatory attacks have ben done.

All went well, but after the seige battles at the end of the Early August turn I am unable to get the AI to do anything. I can still control my unlocked army, but not go to next phase.

German War Plan: Hindenburg
France: Plan 17
Russia: Rasputin Plan

Didn't play any event cards since Diplomacy phase.

What options do you have set for gameplay, guys? You know at the right side where you would set the strictly turn based stuff.

Yeap, I understand the turn based stuff. It is in WEGO mode
(Sstrictly turn based and Army by Army activation are turned OFF in the options.)
Also like I say I made my initial moves and battles Ok so it wasn't an activation problem.

Did you have any siege as defender that turn, where you did not have any garrison units?

I cant get past diplomatic results in real (second) august 1914 diplomatic phase in the 4 person game (single player). The computer tells me the result of the diplomacy then the screen goes black and it crashes

I had a seige in Antwerp. There were defenders, but they were destroyed.

In regard to your previous question, under "game mechanics" I have

"Pursuits after battle"
"Counter-attacks"
"over-rns"

All other options set to off.

:(

Yes you have same options like I do. I have been playing an Entente game with various beta versions of 1.04, had naval battles, events, you name it, and no problem. I even had my Scout Fleet screwed by the German high seas fleet. :D
It might have been one of the events you or the AI played... Please send the save to Calvinus.

Let me understand... you had previosly no problem with 1.0.3?

Anyway I'm giving you my email address via PM so you can send me your savegame.

According the above mentioned problem Calvinus looked at my saved games and replied:

"Is it a match that you started (1.0.3) in "Strictly turn-based" mode and then (1.0.4) you continued in "WEGO" mode???

If so, this is the reason why you are blocked... "

Perhaps that helps other players.

Regards

P.S.: Nevertheless my corrupted (!?) save game was started with the brand new V 1.0.4, without ever using strictly turn-based mode.

P.P.S: Lucas advice: "So it's very very strange! :-o

.SAV file :
[ENGINE] section

I found:
NextTurnRequested=1

that should be: NextTurnRequested=0

it means the other player (AI) has played BEFORE you (so strictly turn-based)?

Anyway, for the future if you have similar problems you know how to fix:

[ENGINE]
...
NextTurnRequested=0
"

Nevertheless Game crashed next turn.

Further observations:

1. mandatory attacks: When troops which must attack are just moved forward into empty provinces of their nationality red flags turn green. But sometimes that's not enough to end the phase. When earlier saved game is reloaded and mandatory attacks are planned on enemy territory, it's possible to end the phase. Sometimes on map units are even green flagged while unit detail screen shows red flag.

2. When moving troops into enemy hexes sometimes the merge troops screen pops up.

3.
In Western Africa it was possible to move French troops through still neutral English colonies to attack the German ones. WAD?

4. A question: I know front-line corps should be cycled out every other round of combat in combat resolution screen. Now what about arty, tanks and Stormtroops?
