Took a week off work to play new game but with all the problems the game has been unplayable. I was just wondering when the first patch will be out, weekend, next week. Know you guys have been working hard at problem solving but a general reply would be nice. Thanks.

Here is a recent post from Calvinus from the Communique thread:

Calvinus wrote:Dear all,

the freeze issue is very close to be solved and fixed! I had three bad days of hard work like never before in my life, but I'm confident I have undertaken the right way for the fix.

My apologises again for this unforeseenable problem. Nobody of the beta-testing team ever experienced such a incredible behaviour...

It seems that the multi-threaded engine of game AI is "not able" to run with some CPUs, so hanging down totally and letting the game wait for ever!

So I had to go and fix this hardware incompatibility by totally refactoring the way AI works.

I managed also to fix some nasty bugs in battles (air, sieges in 4-player mode, naval)... herewith the current stage of patch:

[Version 1.0.4]
***********

Improvements:
- Execution of AI actions does not force the recalculation of map window until the AI has finished
- Breakthroughs can now be planned since the very first round of battle
- Failed technology research tests do not cause anymore the abandonement of the technological research
- Game AI has been moved to the main game thread

Fixed bugs:
- Removed rare game engine freeze on execution of diplomatic orders
- Fixed bug in automatic RPs & MUNs reinforcements calculation
- Fixed a bug in "draw events" window that prevented the close of the window in some rare case
- "Engage" button in naval battles has now no constraints, so any lock in naval combats is resolved
- Fixed a minor bug in Fog of War calculation on allied units for 4-players multiplayer sessions
- Check-boxes for music & sounds on/off in Options window now works fine
- Activate/deactivate of musics play-back from Options window now works fine
- The game AI freezes has been removed
- Fixed the hang of sieges in 4-players campaign in single-player mode
- Fixed some bugs in air battle setup

The patch will come soon! Give us a bit more time and patience, please.

Thanks,
Calvinus.

Another well-intentioned piece of advice :coeurs: : Calvinus should contemplate doing as Pocus does with the AGE games, namely releasing first, and ASAP a beta patch for the interested players to try and see if the biggest problems (CTD) are indeed solved. "Official" Beta testers, as clearly you should know by now, are not sufficient.
It will be a BIG mistake if the patch is released and the problems persist.

This is exactly what has been done ;) :D The fix has been sent to players who have known the hardware/CPU freezes, and was tried with them... hence the reason it is delayed now, because we are still doing other cheks before making it official :)

This is good to see, because my current game is stuck with a freeze in four player mode, once a siege begins the game just freezes. I hope this fixes it.

Just a FYI on the map, there is a portion of France missing from my version of the game. It is a DL copy from Matrix. The "tile" missing is around Bordeaux area. I noted this in the 4 player campaign. Havnt looked to see if this is resident in any of the other scenarios.

Additions, there are in fact multiple map tiles that look like thier screwed up. Hmm...thats something that should never have happened im afraid...

In the campaign game if you seperate the english fighter squadron from the fleet elements its stacked with the game CTD's.

In my campaign game last night the Austro Hungarians were fighting the germans when in fact allied with each other. Is the game recognizing allies? It appeared a german stack tried to pass thru a area garrisoned by AH, and a battle ensued.<<<<<<<-----THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE-I hope what I saw was not the norm. IF this is its going to completely screw the game up id suspect.

New one, enemy playing detrimental event card against self...twice in current game so far, torpedo usa ship event, and a advance armor research for allies??? event... the event cards benificial to the allies need to be flagged as a NO PLAY for central powers...

New one, event phase...I have one card available to draw, the game will not allow me to close the screen or advance because it says I have two cards to draw, yet only one is present in the list of choices. NOTE-by hitting escape and saving at this point it advanced to the next screen.

Regarding events, I have the Zimmerman Telegraph event as allies yet the only card I can play is one detrimental to myself, in this case the Jihad card, which I pulled to keep it from my enemys hands, fact I have two pro allie cards I cant play, greyed out, and one anti I can....whats up with this????

As a aside, I have to add im very much enjoying the game, my notes here are simply to point out what is a issue as I see it, nothing more or less, if the game wasnt a gem in the rough id not bother.

Will keep adding as I find em...

We'll have a look.. it's a texture loading problem.

We'll see on this one. May be because this unit is "Naval Aviation" (RNAS unit) and can't be detached from the fleet. We shall check.

If so, it is a bug. Problem is 4-palyers campain is NOT intended for single player games, only for multiplayer. However, even with this, it should not happen. Thanks for spotting.

The whole events system is a new and unusual feature with some 'strange' but useful rules. May be we need to work out the graphical aspects to enhance the differences...

* Enemy may 'play' events that are self detrimental... in fact, he has no choice...it is the case of events we call 'public' which are in fact random events he can't do anything with, just suffer their consequences. For instance, the US ship torpeded is an event (public) that can (in fact must) be played by the CPs...in other words one of your U-boat commander has made a mistake...

* Stratagem events (i.e. those cards you draw initially and receive once in a while, the white background playing cards you can see at the bottom left of the interface): if you draw one that is favorable to the opponent, there is one GODD point in it: you know the enemy cannot play it... now you're allowed to play stupid and inflict it upon yourself if you wish ;) . We may have may be an option 'No Play' later on...

Thanks for raising all these points, they will help improving the game
 :coeurs:
