Problems with the AI

Hi
I've had so much fun with these games, particulary this one. I love the simplicity, while still being complex. I recently installed this game again on a computer with Win 10 64- bit.
Have any of you experienced that the AI simply "deactivates" after a few turns, regardless of which scenario you are playing?
The game doesn't end or get an error - the AI just "turns off". Their armies starving, fleets not harbouring, no movements, etc.
I've tried several of the patches, and multiple AI settings (and no, I haven't deactivated the AI in the settings).
Do any of you know of my problem?

Hi jforris and welcome to the forum.
I have not noticed this because when playing solo, I play both sides. It is more fun and presents a better challenge than the best AI, just a thought.

I haven't run into this issue, but you might consider playing the original BoA. I honestly find it better. The BoA2 tries to do more, but seems quite buggy.
I don't have AI issues, but definitely have other bugs that get on my nerves.

To play both sides, what you do it this:
Make the move for one faction and save.
Exit to the menu and enter as the other faction.
Then make the move for the other faction, save and run the turn.
Next you need to decide if you are going to alternate or always play the same side first. I alternate.
So next I move the second faction and save.
Then I exit and enter as the other side, make the move and fun the game.
It is a nice way to play and even works in WON or PON when you have a lot of factions.

Please send a copy of your game's Settings folder. There are settings that affect the behavior of the AI.

Thank you all for the nice and informative replies.
The issue was with the save files.
As mentioned earlier, I could try running the game as adminstrator, that worked. It has probably something to do with admission/access to the games folder.
