DirectX invalid call

I sometimes get this error message:

"DirectX to Renderer invalid call (Burst Mode) [ ]
Would you like to terminate the application?"

and the application terminates. This is under Windows 7 on a Toshiba Satellite L755 laptop. It's a late-model machine, just bought it a few weeks ago.

It seems to always happen when the computer goes into standby and comes back up. It also sometimes happens when I switch to another task on my machine and then come back to WIA.

In Windows 7, this is a common error if you do not run the program as an administrator; either from the left click or by setting the program to always run as admin. What you describe is a common reason why this happens.
Occasionally, when inside the game, you will get this same result. For me, when I try to view a battle result or use the distant unload feature I occasionally get this message.
My solution, save whenever I am taking a break or before other problems I have experienced. Easy solution for a problem.
It is not a serious issue, just hit save when you walk away for a bit.

I've been runing as admin, but I still get this error when my computer goes into standby. Of course the work-around is just to leave the computer on! And, as you said, save frequently.

And, the crash hasn't happened when task switching, so I guess that's an improvement. Thanks.

All my Ageod games (AACW, NCP, WIA, ROP) doesn't work after wakeup from standby regardless of the used OS (WinXP in my case).
Search the forum, others have the problem too. This is somehow WAD (works as designed) :(

This error has been reported in all AGE engine games. In my case I have it with PON, and it has nothing to do with going or leaving to standby mode.
