Problem with Supply

I installed 1.05 and am having a problem with supply. I started Scenario 8 1775-1783 playing both sides. I checked the Americans and there does not seem to be any reduction to supply each turn. For my test I combined Ward and Thomas and moved to Worchester. Their first turn stock was 304. On subsequent turns it increased to 320. There was no reduction but no evidence of a sufficient supply source either. Supply worked for me under 1.04.
I have tried to upload the saved file.
Thanks
Joe

Hi
On WIA there are no supply distribution from a supply source to other regions like in AACW and NCP, but still...
stacks can draw supply form adjacent regions.
So, even if Worchester is a little village with not much supply production, your stack can draw supply from all the adjacent towns: Dorchester, Providence, Cambridge & New London. And that adds up to more than enough to feed your troops
Thats why even with Worcester in red on the supply filter (as all the supply there is consumed) they don't loose supply reserves.
In very civilized zones like New England its pretty easy to keep forces supplied even in regions with no towns, as long as there are adjacent structures.
But do some test on this up on the New York wilderness and you will see how they starve
Cheers!

Is this certain? Does anyone know a way to test whether it's WAD? As I tinker with the game, I'm beginning to have doubts - for instance, supply wagons adjacent to regions with plenty of supply and vacant of other troops won't seem to replenish supply. I'm afraid I can't post any concrete examples or saved games, just observations in the course of playing, but I've begun playing on the assumption that it is broken because I never seem to see evidence of it WAD.

Yes, its certain. Joe's situation is a good example.
The initial 1775 USA situation its also a good one. Dorchester doesn't have enough supply for the stacks there (as the supply filter shows), but they remain suppled dragging from adjacent friendly structures.
Put a big force on any small structure surrounded by friendly structures and you will see how they use the adjacent supply.
I have use this frequently on my games on 1.05 and before.
But it's not enough that the adjacent region is vacant of enemy troops. It must be controlled by you.
For example, as the Brits, make a landing at lets say, Annapolis. If your force is big they won't have enough supply just from there and you will see their reserves falling. But if you increase you "beachhead" by taking Annapolis and Alexandria (adjacent towns if IIRC) they will have plenty of food.
Cheers

Thanks arsan for the explanation.
I have one further question. I was conducting a seige on Fort 96 and noticed that the supply level never dropped below 2. Is that because there is a fort?
The unit inside never suffered any food shortages.
Thanks

All locations generate supply each turn not under siege. When a siege starts, there exists a 'pseudo stockpile' of 1 turns supply inm place. This pile then is consumed without replenishment as long as the siege reamains uninterrupted.
Fort does not confer immunity.
If there were a harbor, not fully blockaded, there would be reduced supply generated each turn...
Did besieger sustain uninterrupted siege? Did the besieged move troops outside for a turn to break the siege [sally]? Is the besieger always avoiding Passive stance?
I did quick test of a siege, and it seems OK. Supplies reduce slowly inside, but do get to 0 [when no port is there]. Rate of reduction depends on how many troops are inside [consumption per turn]. More likely is a surrender before then if only low quality troops are inside.
In the end, it's hard for us to say what you've got without a saved game to look at.....

Thanks Lodilefty. Since you tested and it worked correctly I decided something must have happened during my installation of 1.05. I already had a weird experience with a situation when the British occupied Camden. When I put the tool tip over the supply number it started to increase automatically (kinda like the counter that measures our national debt.. it constantly spins a higher number). I finally moved the tool tip off the number when the supply count was in the thousands.Every time I put the tool tip over the number it would start to spin higher again. After a couple of turns it returned to normal.
So I think the 2 minimum supply must have been a part of the bad download.
I have since done a clean install and update to 1.05 and every thing is working fine.
Thanks for your help, once again.

I have had the same problem as you once: that supply level increased rapidly when placing the cursor above it, and started to increase once again when again placing the cursor there. Only happened during one turn in one game, though.
Does anyone know why this happened, and how to fix it? Has it happened to anyone else?

This only happens once in awhile but the spinning supply number still occurs.
Hopefully, I have attached a save. Once loaded, select the English player. Move the cursor to the Dorcester area (near Boston). It should increase rapidly until you move the cursor off. Then it will increase again when the cursor is put back on.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks

I see it!
I can't explain it!
Routine questions:
What version are you running?
Did you apply the patch over a clean install or 'patch on patch'?

Yes I had it happen once too, clean install, then patch.

I did a clean install with 1.05
I have attached the log, I don't know if that will help.
Thanks
