Pequot War

How do I win as the natives? I can reach a stalemate after 8 turns, but it seems I am just outnumbered. 
I sat still for the first 2 turns. Too bloody cold to do anything.
Then one party (Sequin) to Mohegan, another to Mis I Stuck !
One defeat at Misistuck, followed by a victory.
Then back to Pequot and everybody out to attack Hartford - one defeat, one victory.
Overall victory albeit Nantic village (bottom right, was lost).
