Hi,

quick question: one of my leaders got promotable, but I can't promote him. As he's inside a stack: do I have to seperate him for a promotion?

The leader to be promoted must be stack commander, i.e. you may have to seperate him out of the stack.

Yes, if he is not in command of the stack.
You have to put him on a stack (alone or with units) where he is the most senior leader(the one in overall command).
Just leave him there one turn with the promotion button pushed and he will be promoted next turn. Then you can put him where you want again.

Mmh, I'm not at my gaming rig, but if I remember correctly, the leader in question is the only leader in the stack. Will have to check tomorrow. The promote button is greyed out, btw.

Ah, OK, then it can be just that you ara mistaken an the leqader is not promotable.
How do you know the leader is pormotable?
Don't be misguided by the line
Promotable=yes
you can find on the Unit detail window.
That only means the leader is potentialy promotable (not all leaders are).
But to be able to realy pormote, he has to earn the pormotion by winning battles and increasing his seniority as a reward.
Realy pormotable guys will have his stars box (nato icon) on the unit panel flashing.
And also, on the units rooster (on the ledger) their names will flash in red.
Hope it helps!

bugnote:

If the leader is Allan Prevost or Sir Samuel Hood, there iss an omission in the model that prevents promotion.

This will be fixed in patch.
