In the 1812 Russian Campaign there are two Major General Essens. One with the Riga Command (which is seemingly part of the Army of the Danube as is the Finland Command. ) and the second Major General Essen is with the 2nd Corps of the Army of the Danube just North-West of Odessa.

Seems it doubled via mistaken copy paste operation when creating the scenario. I'd like someone with knowledge of the 1812 Russian OOB to tell who was where

Apparently this was reported for the first time by caranorn

Much later was commented by arsan in the prussian campaign. I even did a portrait for him, finally not included because it is necessary to fix the scenarios first. We arrived to some agreement on who was who, read here and the following posts

If it is fixed in the scenarios, the portrait of the second (or first :neener :) Essen is here

We need to fix more than the scenarios in fact. The DB (units and models) has also to include the second Esssen... :(

According to Nafziger, Napoleon's Invasion of Russia, Essen I commands the Riga force and Essen II commands 8th Division/Army of the Danube. Different generals, same family name.

Good point. Piotr Essen was commander of then 2nd Corps of the Danube army and Magnus Gustav von Essen was the commander of Riga corps.
