Dear player,

An update for your favorite Napoleonic Game ;)

http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/NCP_Patch.zip

================================================== ============================
THIS PATCH DOES NOT WORKS FOR THE 1.00 VERSION, if you have not installed
the Foundation Patch before.
================================================== ============================

================================================== ============================
Napoleon's Campaigns Patch 1.04b / June, 2008
================================================== ============================

================================================== ============================
Gameplay
================================================== ============================
- Because of a large variety in size (from 500 to 4000 men!), some elements can assault with undue penalties in NCP (for example Prussian Batallion, being small, are very penalized in close combat). A normalization factor has been applied, for better historical results. Note that elements weakened always get a penalty.

================================================== ============================
Scenarios & events
================================================== ============================
- Improved Gibraltar defense: fortress is now level 4, with strong depot, reinforced garrison and a commander very able in fort defense...
- Cadiz improved to level 3 fortress

- Newly added Allied merchant shipping in some scenarios to provide sea supply capacity (very useful for the Brits in 1804, Anglo-Spanish in 1808-1814, but also the Russians or Swedes in respective 1812 and 1808 scenarios)

- Last but not least, included the complete leadership revision by Arnaud Bouis of all leaders abilities and values (pro-allies balancing fix)

================================================== ============================
Database
================================================== ============================
- Some leaders values adjusted further.

================================================== ============================
AI
================================================== ============================
- AI improved on several aspects (seeking the enemy, defending valuable position, resting troops).

Note that 1.04a had an error and is therefore obsolete and not needed in anyway.

Is it possible to see a list of these leader changes before installing the patch?

Posted: Tue Jun 24, 2008 5:26 pm
by PhilThib
No, visually it's too long a list :bonk: :p leure: (over 1500 lines of models)...

First my advice would be for you to back-up the game before installing the patch.

Second if you really want to see the work, get Excel and open the attachment herewith (but do not make use of it ingame, I removed dozens of useless data).

Hi!

The patch seems to work OK now! :coeurs: :coeurs: :coeurs:

But...
is a pity the Donegal fix PhilThib posted here yesterday
http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?t=9436
Was not included on 1.04b :p leure:
Can we safely use the fix with the new patch?
Regards

merci Phil. Thanks for highlighting the changes. More personality for coalition leaders looks good.

Thanks, I have played some turns in the PW and noticed nothing wrong :)

Is it more difficult now to conquer fortresses?

And I still see that loading textures is faster, am I the only one? Well I cannot say it is a bug :niark:

Yes, I think so, it concerns only the 1809 scenario and that one was not affected by the other changes...

A little problem with the patch 1.04b

An explicitly invalid serial key, that's for sure (I love that error message :D )

miki1973, if you have purchased it by regular means, contact support to get things sorted out.

Now works

miki1973, this is related with the command radius of Marmont and his army of Dalmatia, is not enough for Kellerman and Jerome Bonaparte corps, so they are not supplied, I told PhilThib, but no way

Miki, sorry if we seemed overly conclusive, but yours is the first case I've heard of where this error message has appeared due to the lack of the foundation patch rather than having an explicitly invalid serial key.

Very happy you got it sorted out, and looking forward to seeing you around the forums :)

You have to understand that people become suspicious if you use a blacklisted key (and there is no doubt you did). :sourcil:

merci beaucoup

My typed francais may be worse than my spoken version. With this update, the game not only loads faster and map edge scrolls faster, but there is no more annoying crazy mid map scrolling.
Tres bien!!!

A user at si-games spotted the following misspelling: The region south of Tilsit should spell "Insterburg" instead of "Intersburg".

Another (possible) mistake: I am pretty sure that the region "Ludwigshut" should spell "Ludwigslust". However, I am not 100% sure that the name of the region hasn't changed over time, but today it is indeed called "Ludwigslust".

Great! I am not the only one that has noticed that the game loads faster now ;)

Another thing, same portrait for two different generals?

Some optimizations were done on database loading, but it should not amount to more than 10s of gain. Better than nothing, true :)

So the order of patching for 1.00 + ? and then 1.04b??

Posted: Mon Jul 07, 2008 11:22 pm
by Primasprit
If you have Version 1.00 then you need the "Foundation Patch" first (http://ageoddl.telechargement.fr/latest/PatchFondation_NCP.exe) and can install 1.4 afterwards.

First let me start by saying that I love the games that AGEOD has put out. I bought BOA a few weeks ago, downloaded the NCP demo and loved it so much that I bought it and AACW.
My question is this though, is there anyother place to download the most recent patches? I tried to download the NCP 1.04b patch from the link and it starts out ok, but it got down to 1.94 kb/s and like 2 days to download the patch. Any faster servers?

Again, I love the games, love that you guys update so often, just want to download the patches a little quicker.

Strange, but I trust you if you say you got a low speed. Try the Patch Scrolls as an alternate site.

Is the (french) fondations patch mandatory for english speaking people ?
Or will the 1.04b patch recover the english text ?

Are the older patches obsolete ?

I bought and downloaded the game today and now I'm not sure which patches to apply.

Some help would be great.

Hi!

Someone correct me if i´m wrong but...
If you downloaded the game from AGEOD's web you only need the last patch (1.04b)
The foundation patch is only for buyers of the French market retail version.

Always apply only the last patch as they are comprehensive.
And no problem with the languages. The patches are multilingual and compatible with all game versions: DVD, digital download, any language... don't worry there is just one patch for all.
The only exception is the retail French version. :siffle:
Regards!

Wow, what a great and fast responsive community :coeurs:

I also bought BoA a while ago and everytime I had some questions, the forum people helped me in a quick and civilized way (that's not the standar´d on many other forums I know).

Thank you for this and for your great games.

Martin

PS: Some hints which mods are nice to have for NC ?

IIRC, those that have bought the game through Gamer's Gate will also need to apply the foundation patch, since the version sold there is essentiallyt the same as the French box retail version.

(Note that this is fairly old info; it may be that Gamer's Gate has updated the version they are selling since then, making the foundation patch unnecessary)
