Diverging Victory Information

Gene Renna and I just completed a game of Poland 1807 on NCP. Neither of us did achieve his objectives; I (as the French) won about 500 VP to his ~100 or so.

Now the funny thing is, I got a victory screen stating that I broke the Coalition morale and achieved victory; he got one saying it was a stalemate. Shouldn't we both be seeing the same?

Actually it should have been a score victory, or?

Dierk and I were playing the Poland Campaign. My screen stated a stalemate was achieved as neither side gained it's territorial objectives. I lost Konigsberg, Dierk lost Warsaw and failed to take Danzig. My screen did point out that Dierk outscored me though, by at least 500 points. That, to me, indicated that Dierk had won a victory on points.

I am at a loss to explain why his screen would indicate that the Coalition morale had been broken. I think the defeat level for the Coalition was a NM of 30 or so? My morale was at 70 when the game ended.

cheers,
Gene

Another oddity with this game was that I selected the "extend campaign by a month" military option on T 15 (of 16). I got the news entry saying something like "Napoleon has extended the campaign", but still the game ended on T16. Announcing a stalemate or score victory at this point clearly wouldn't make sense, or would it? An actual, NM-based victory of course could have occurred at this time ...

Looking at the files more closely, I find a few things I don't fully understand. The victory conditions for this scenario state that the Coalition player can break the French morale by controlling Danzig and Warsaw. I held Danzig ( besieged) and had taken Warsaw ( 66% Prussian control, 34 % French Control ). Was that not enough control to count?

Either way, I felt that I, as the Coalition, was defeated.

My replacement screen displayed some oddities. Russian two-star generals and Fench artillery :siffle:

regards,
Gene

I believe these are but examples, not sufficient conditions for a victory. You lost Königsberg and Memel, that will have offset holding Danzig and taking Warsaw ... ?

I'm sure you're correct in this. However, it doesn't mention holding onto Konigsberg (at least in the matter of breaking French morale given in the example), hence my confusion.

So what does "break morale" mean? If the Coalition doesn't lose Konigsberg or Danzig, AND captures Warsaw, does the game end in a coalition victory at that point? Or does "break morale" mean that the French national morale would take a very serious hit?

Bear in mind that these are small matters though, and did not in any way detract from a thoroughly enjoyable contest!

cheers,
Gene

The messages are badly worded. You are not supposed to get a major victory if you only win by VP.

For the rest,we will check. I guess this is in the latest version of the game?

Yes. Do you need the files?

The problem on replacements is fixed. For the extension of the scenario I signed the option and it worked reliably (over several turns). Are you sure you confirmed the option in the end?

I'll need the whole game yes, if you signed the option.

I think I am. What I am sure is that I got the one-liner in the event log saying "The Emperor has granted you an additional month to achive your objectives" or some such wording. I took that as confirmation of my decision. :innocent:
