Help on supply

Wonder if anybody can give me a few tips. When you're attacking an objective and extending beyond your supply capabilities what's the best way forward?? What I mean is more relevant to the shorter scenarios where you may want to quickly move to take an objective -0 this can leave you with a couple of "empty" regions between yr objective and your supply network.
Is the quickest way to rectify this to leave troops in these other regions in order to connect up your supply with your army. I know supply wagons help but at times there just aren't enough for what is needed.

Hope I've explained this clearly. Any help greatly appreciated on this???

At some point you will want to make sure that regions that make up your supply lines are FRIENDLY (i.e. greater than 50% military control) Supply will not pass through hostile territories.

Usually, there are plenty of depots on the map in western and central Europe for you to capture. It's only when you start moving into southern Spain or push deep into Russia that the building of depots becomes critical.

Supply wagons are good for shuttling supplies from your depots to the forward units but the process takes time and leaves them suseptible to capture/destruction by roving enemy cavalry.

Thanks for that. It was the 50% military control that I needed to know - must have missed that although I do own ACW too so I should have known. I think its probably the fact that in ACW I'm much more cautious and don't tend to over extend my supply.
