mergind armies on separate tabs

sorry if this has been asked before.

when i split units off a force, they become a separate tab on the force selection panel.
when i bring a group on different armies into the same region, I have many tabs to select between them.

For some reason I can't understand how to merge two tabs or the elements in two separate tabs into a single army. I think there is part of the wording of the manual that I dont understand.

Could anyone help?
At the moment I feel that I do not have freedom to reorganise forces. I can split off a banner, but not easily put banners together.

If I understand your question correctly... you can merge two Forces by left-clicking on the "tab" of the Force you want to merge... and draging it onto the tab of the Force you want it to be merged with.

You can do this right on the Unit Panel. Both tabbed forces now become one.

I hope this helps.

Thank you that is very clear, and works fine now.

Alss, you don“t need to merge full tabs.
You can select only some units from a stack/tab on the panel display and drag them on top of another tab.
Or... drag them on the map in the same area or another one and create a new tab/stack

Cheers!

Just a word of Clarification...

You cannot drag "ELEMENTS" out of the Unit Panel this way. What you are dragging are UNITS.

Elements are the building blocks of units and can't be dragged around this way. (Elements show up on the Element Display panel just to the right of the Unit Panel-- such as the 36th regiment de Ligne.)

You can drag individual UNITS from the Unit Panel and drop them on different tab-ed Forces (Arsan is correct but his terminology was off just a bit.)

You are right!
I was thinking of units but wrote "elements" by mistake :bonk:
Sorry, I will edit the message to avoid confussions... :innocent:

No worries. I knew what you meant. I just wanted to make sure everyone else did too.

My problem is, when I drag to a tab, the dragged unit tends to wind up on the map instead.

Yes that was exactly my problem.
However I now started watching very carefully where the pointer is pointing and it became a whole lot easier.

*nod* Aye...You need to wait til you see the force pop up when your hovering your mouse over the tab. When the force list pops up? Drop.

Sometimes the tab to tab merge just doesn't work. When that happens you have to merge them on the map. Seperate your different stacks and merge them by dropping onto the general picture icon of the force you choose to merge with.

Hopefully this image will help out. Here the 2nd Column has been merged with Kutusov's Army.
