Are there guides describing the meaning and use of the columns in these files? Information about where strings go, any syntax requirements, and entry restrictions?

The column names (and help texts) for each sheet pretty much say it all. Phil was pretty good at describing stuff there.

That information may be clearer for ACW files than NCP files. I havent seen the ACW versions.
