Param1 = Experience and Upgrade ??

In tracing some mysterious upgrades during WIA development:
When defining a unit within a group, it appears that Param1 (column E) alows us to start a unit with experience... a value of 1 looks like it is 1 'star', and [for WIA] is triggering upgrades [Militia to Light Inf is the 'TrainUpg' in the case I'm working]...
Is this the WAD use of Param1 ??
Should units upgrade to the 'TrainUpg' model without a training officer?

To my knowledge, the Param1 is indeed the level of acquired experience of the unit...but it doesn't trigger upgrades (this is not related). Pocus will comment if need be

since some time (introduced in AACW), every model having a train upg path have 5% chance per level of experience to train to the next model, losing some experience in the process.

OK
To be clear: does this mean a unit with 0 experience has no chance, and a unit with 1 'star' has 5%, 2 'stars' 10% etc.... ??

In the
AACW database files, look at AACW_DB_Models41a.xls
Column AQ is TechUpg (by event). Column AR is TrainUpg (by experience).
The
BOA database files should have a similar format.
