I noticed sometimes I got not notification for an occured event!

Down here an example: see attached EXL file for the full events description.

Basically we have to events:
N13; evt_nam_FRA_TorgauThielmann_b
A13; evt_nam_COA_TorgauThielmann_b

The second one is just the notification to Coalition side, (A13) first event occurred:
EvalEvent; evt_nam_FRA_TorgauThielmann_b|=|1

Now out of many tests I had no COA side event notification.

Why I have not notification as per [color="Red"]DescEvent; evt_desc_COA_TorgauThielmann_b[/color] ?

Notice, this is not first time I meet such king of troubles!
.....Of course evt_nam_COA_TorgauThielmann_b textual notification was properly encoded in LocalString files!

That's true but it was, as you could see from attached EXL sheet:

I was expecting a line notification centered over Tougau region!

What is very odd and confusing me is the fact I edited tons of events like that... most of them works, some one not at all!
I cannot see a reason for that!

Here is an editing update to Events I'm checking: see attached file.
I have addded to evt_nam_COA_TorgauThielmann_b actions a ChgVPCount so to be able to check event beeing processed!

Although I have proof the event is actually processed, and noticed the change in VP, notification is till missing!

It's strange, all look okay in the event strings!

BTW, this kind of silent troubles are a menace for game testing: testers will not notice or report troubles in so far they do not know of event existence!
The only one could notice them is the scenario editor!

There are so many things to do with your nick, it is amazing!

Blank value after the "1" matches the E Column of the Events sheet!
E column is the so called "§Notes - Comments" column, commonly having a mess of blank value cells!


It was used in all NCP EXL files: I have mess of events with such a blank value perfectely working!
The trouble is to be elsewhere!

I'll try GenMsg as you suggested, but mostly for testing porpouse!
Unfortunately GenMsg does not allow to center map over event location: that the main reason I prefer DescEvent!

a NULL is not a blank. A blank shift data, ... if there are no data, as with 99% of the commands after the blank, it's not a problem. If there are, like for a StartEvent line, then this can be the cause of your trouble.

So, al the empty cells in notes must be NULL. Wasted an evening figuring that out long ago....
Or move notes to the last column on right so it doesn't matter.

Going after Lodilefty's suggestion I added "NULL" to all blanck cells from Column E.

NOW, I have no more notification of any scripted events!!!!

No scripted event notification working when textual note was added to first line of an event!

I removed my notes from Column E and it's all okay !

Now, the question!
Where to move the damn, but so usefull, Notes?
BTW, guess it's not wise to delete the full Column E!

Indeed I got same results with or without §Notes - Comments!

I suspecta trouble with CSVSplitter: my presently used version: 14 Ago. 2008, 17.06.20 last mod. time!

You helped me a lot, moving me to try all possible editing ways!

Here are my last findings, using most recent CSVSplitter version I have at hand.

Column E!

Presence or not of §..... at column head is uninfluent.
All blank cells in column E is Okay!
Throubles when notes are added in column E at very first line of an event.
Okay when Notes are added to other column E cell lines: example at the line hosting the DescEvent command.
At this point, AFAIK, no need to delete or move Column E, before CSVSplitting processing EXL files, but need to check presence of notes in first line of any event.

To have a common standard into EXL files editing we could also commonly move Comment column to the rightmost edge of the docs.
Of course we should do that will all old EXL files.... A mess just in NCP_DB!
Deleting E column before processing EXL files is okay too! But we need to do that any time a new file goes processed!

Expect Pocus will clarify best way to go on for future!
