Is it possible to MOD the length of the game?

Is there any way to change the game end date? In particular, to make the game last beyond January 1866? Andatiep and I are considering a game with house rules to make FI more likely and we will play on until final victory, if we can figure it out.

Sure, the quick and dirty way is to edit the .scn file
Open it with notepad, then you see
{Gamesim}
1000001
2678
2785
change the third number to +24 per additional year you want.

What sort of events are we talking about? Is it going to make things wierd?
Thanks.

I don't think you'll get very weird things, perhaps some war weariness events can stop working though.

We have set the end date for the beginning of 1870. This was rather arbitrary. The way it works is that the USA loses in March 1865 if Lincoln fails to get re-elected in the 1864 election (based on loyalty levels in the USA-controlled loyal states) and wins if he does, unless FI has taken place, in which case we fight on. We probably should have another decision point in November 1868 with game end in March 1869 but we are just assuming that the war will go to a conclusion in that case.
