The updated version of the manual comes with the game. You'll find it browing the Start Menu > Great Invasions.
The only mod available can be found in the game site:

but i bought the game in 2005, is the manual still updated?

I remember:
- some graphical changes
- AI tweaking
- some databases changed to improve game balance
