I have read about Kingdoms, Barbarian and Empires. I don't know anything about raiding or native tribes though.

I have noticed that the Franks have been taking over provinces which are native but I can't seem to do that with my raiding tribes. Help?

AFAIK you cannot control Raiding Tribes at all. They quite literally have a mind of their own until they become Barbarian.
