Hi,

i have the following problem: As soon as I leave the 'pause'-mode the game gets extremely slow. Frame rate about 2 fps to 3 fps I would guess. Of course it is not playable that way. I already tried some options like Fullscreen on/off and different 'Stability manager' levels (whatever that means...).
Any idea what the reason might be?

You probably have an antivirus/firewall tool installed, such as Norton Antivirus for example.
GI is almost totally not compatible with some antivirus/firewall tools.

I disabled my firewall and anti virus program, but sadly it didn't help.

I just loaded the game, and it was running very poorly, and then crashed. I thought the problem might be with the DivX thingy rather than the game, so I uninstalled it...and the game seems to be performing much better.

What is this DivX thing anyways? Is it absolutely neccessary for the game? I seemed to be able to play (for at least a few minutes) w/o it.

The DivX codec is IMHO only necessary for the playback of the intro movie. Shouldn't cause any trouble with the game itself.

I confirtm the opinion of Primasprit is right. Uninstall the codec and disable the 'play logo' option in the Setup tool.

I was able to solve my problem about the extremely slow game speed: After I set the 'Stability manager' level to 'Fast PC' it runs fine. I tried only the settings for the old PCs before as I thought it might speed up the game....
