As someone without a knowledge of the geography of the USA it would be a help is any place mentioned in the text ould be found simply by clicking on the name. Otherwise we non US citizens have to hunt the map trying to locate places!

Actually i'll second that idea - again being a Brit makes it rather tough work. I especially have problems as I sometimes get mixed up over city names and region names and have to very carefully look at whats what.
A search box for regions - such as those in paradox games - would perhaps be useful?

Don't worry, with time and practice, you will exactly know where are located all the cities and important places.

I agree! Soon you will know Tennessee and Virginia by heart!
But as an Spaniard i certainly understand your problems. At the beginning the map is too big!
Still... do you know you can click on any message on the log and it will take you to where it refers?
Also on the ledger you can click on the nato symbols of any unit, as well as on the objective cities name and it will take you to his position on map.
And if you have your game patched (the urrent patch is 1.09e) you should see clickable symbols on the list of "new units raised" which will center the screen on the unit.
Regards!
Thanks

Yeah I had noticed that about clicking on stuff - does make things easier I imagine as didn't play before this version.
I think for me it's mainly when reading through AARs or things where people mention place names as key strategic spots and I try to look them up.
It's not a biggy I suppose - you'r right you do start to know the way around and certainly doesn't stop me playing or anything!

You can also use the wiki to find a list of all settlements and regions...it lists all the States where the regions are but of course it's only a matter of time before experience tells you. This game is great in teaching geography, before buying it i knew absolutely nothing of u.s. locations.

Also worth printing off a map or two (various links to map sites in the forum).
and reading in bed or in the bath. Getting to know the major rivers is quite useful as well; I got a map and coloured all the navigable river regions blue.
Cheers, Chris

There is a big probability that War in Americas will have a Province Finder... So it will be ported to AACW some time after the release of the said game.
