Details of regiments....

1. This one should be easy...on the details-box that you get when clicking on a regiment, I think it should state the name of the regiment and the leader.

2. This might be a little harder...leaders from regimental level and up would be my highest wish.
Leaders should exist for all regiments and be able to rise though the ranks
so that I would be able to assign them to higher commands as the war rages on.

I have spent a great deal of my sparetime the last 3 years compiling a database of units and leaders of the civilwar.
My primary source has been the "Soldiers & Sailors"-database but I've also used other sources.
I've got a webpage dedicated to this project at:
http://web.telia.com/~u45125282/cw.htm

The whole thing is done in Excel and could well be used in such a game as this, if there would only be a possibily to implement it :-)

i like this idea for regiment naming and details and such as well, but in general it hasn't seemed to be well received or even contemplated really. :( maybe it's too much work or theres bigger problems or i'm just obsessive compulsive, but i think it'd be neat.

Low on priority. There are bigger fish to fry from what I have heard (AI improvements, crushing bugs like province connections, fixing rail roads, etc.).

Gameplay comes before flavour. When the major gameplay issues are covered, then time can be devoted for flavour. Having or not having these names won't affect the course of a game, just how parts of it appear.

I believe it is a goal, but low on priority.

Sure, I can certainly see your point.
Gameplay, even in my book :sourcil: , has to come first.
Then again, there will always be gameplay issues to solve
and some developing time will always have to be spent
on things that "just makes the game look better" and not really
adds anything to the engine of the game.

The problem with my idea versus other mods is that mine
requires some programming and indeed some restructuring of the whole game, whereas most other mods just require some editing of textfiles.

Ah well, I can always dream ;)
