Great Lakes Ships

Illinois riverboats tend to appear in Chicago and are stuck in lake Michigan. Other ships are developed in Detroit and seem to be stuck on lake Ontario, etc.
Someone mentioned that some ships can move through the ohio and eire canal, but not deep draft ships, so their still stuck. Furthermore lake Michigan is not connected to any canal due to the top of the map being cutoff.

Could this be patched so that IL ships never build in Chicago. Illinois has good river frontage and good industrialization it's a shame its wasted.

IIRC, historically, the USS Michigan the one major warship the US was allowed to keep on the Great Lakes by treaty with GB. They kept one in Canada. Its mission was to "show the flag" in that region. There are plenty of other warships that can be used elsewhere without changing a long-term international balance of power.

You should still be able to move ships to the other Great Lakes from there.

However, the O & E Canal is still broken, so you can't get the shallow drafts to the Ohio river in any of the 1.07 versions.

Have you seen this post? The other canals should not be urgent . . . definitely a lower priority than Roanoke and Ship Islands . . . unless the O & E stays broken.
