The Good....The Bad.....never mind :-)

I got to say that this is the first ACW game of this level that works. It puts you in the framework of the war without forcing you to play exactly like history. The frame work of the game makes you deal with the problems of the war but still allows you to choose how you deal with the problems. There are a few things I would wish for but never be able to see.

1. I would give a lot for a 2 player hot seat and/or 2 player LAN version (to say nothing of a internet version) This is a personal thing because I have a friend in another state that loves the ACW like me and there are so few games that can be played on the net or on a LAN.

2. a game map where you could move the units around like what was used for the old Battleground series with there standard 2 demention top down down Nato counter system then go back to the real map. How many times have I moved a unit and landed it on another one by mistake. This to is a personal thing as my hand and eyes are not what they were when I was younger (SIGH).

These two items are the result of being an OLD wargamer and playing against the computer only when humans are not available is my preference and perhaps is not the desire of the younger generation. I feel that no matter how good the AI in a game is there is nothing like a human player. I still love this game and play when no human player is there for my other games but I guess I still dream. Thanks for a great game.

Exactly my feelings. Of course, from time to time, there's a detail I would better simulated or something lacking, but the addition of coherent design, pretty good GUI, nice graphics and this incredible sensation this game has got all fundamentals of the Civil War is just baffling me, yet after hundred of hours of game ( and modding)... :coeurs:

Each day as I learn more and more about this game, I am figuring this might be one of the best and most promising games I have ever played. I know this makes me sound like a shill at times....

But really, the way AGEod plans to go back and update BoA with AACW concepts, and their intention to rework a bit of AACW with some of the NC changes - what more can you really ask for in a gaming company?? They are very progressive and clearly care about their reputation before the gaming community. :coeurs:

I am going to love NC!

The design is very progressive and it does put you into the ACW situation and simulates the need to deal with the massive problems for both sides that the war brought about.
The game looks and feels like the Civil War and is a true ground breaking game and I think the they will make improvements and perhaps a live hot seat, or multiplayer,LAN enabled version. From what I have read here I think that the design team is interested in what the players say and want, or perhaps some computer modder will create a mod for 2 player. Till then I will have to consider getting into a email PBM game.

It is, in my experience, the most successful strategic game i ever saw on a computer and i saw so many i can't count.
There are others around but the way i've seen the DEVs work on this has convinced me to wait, see and contribute where possible.

What really shakes me from the roots is the fact we are at 1.06 and games do not generally see a rough shape on quality until they get to 1.1 or 1.2. This game already rocks...imagine at 1.1 and 1.2! :)

Well, just imagine what VGN will be like!?! They are very progressive and apply what they've learned well. I will have no problem going back and purchasing BoA Gold (well, as long as you can play both sides with at least some challenge).
