Minor point, I noticed Ben McCulloch starts the '64 scenario in the Army of Tennessee. He definitely died at Pea Ridge in '62. Someone may have noticed sooner, but just in case.....

Let me ask something - are we killing off leaders historically, in an absolute fashion? Or is there some random nature?

No we don't. The only one "killed" are those already dead at the start of a scenario, hence the Mcculloch 'mistake' here.
