River Ironclad Blockade value and bad Rail Link

The blockade value for Union River_Ironclads is set at 0 when it seems it should be 3.
The railroad link between Keokuk, Iowa and Carthage, Illinois does not appear to be working.

These should fix the link. Backup and overwrite existing files in ACW/GameData/Regions.

While you're in the mood for fixing up map issues...
I wrote a quick Java program to check the entire map for consistency. Here's the output from a run on the 1.06 region files:
Loading 1524 region files...
Performing map consistency checks...
Region 98: one-way adjacency to region 101
Region 101: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 98
Region 128: jump link of inconsistent distance to region 137
Region 247: one-way adjacency to region 235
Region 275: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 291
Region 291: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 275
Region 312: one-way adjacency to region 313
Region 321: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 657
Region 405: one-way adjacency to region 413
Region 413: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 405
Region 503: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 510
Region 510: one-way adjacency to region 503
Region 510: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 1023
Region 630: jump link of inconsistent distance to region 1029
Region 657: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 321
Region 689: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 690
Region 690: one-way adjacency to region 689
Region 690: one-way adjacency to region 1489
Region 716: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 717
Region 717: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 716
Region 860: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 1022
Region 946: jump link of inconsistent distance to region 1033
Region 1022: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 860
Region 1023: no adjacency or jump link matching transport link to 510
Region 1350: one-way adjacency to region 1075
Done.
Obviously the numbers are the UID entries from the region files. I expect the meaning of the messages is self-explanatory, but let me know if not.
I guess you caught the 860/1022 one already!
Cheers,
Pete.

AFAIK, blockade values are only used in the blockade boxes. For brown-water blockade (including rivers), only number of units count. I.e. river ironclads don't have any use for blockade values.

Wow! Nice program. Jabberwock, if you can do the fixes, I know the community would appreciate it.
I found your fix in the terrain file but I don't understand the format of these files or I would do it.

Jabberwock- I take it that you are compiling a list or database of all these corrections to submit to Pocus & Co.?
This stuff is invaluable, as it is the kind of tedious work that the developers don't typically have time to do.
So thanks!

Since Pocus & Co. are almost all on a very well deserved vacation, I am just putting together a comprehensive fix of most of the problems others have found. I am heading out to do some physical labor today

, but I hope to have this up late tonight or early tomorrow.

Given Jabberwock's updated files, it is easy to make a list of differences between those and those in the most recent patch, if Pocus & Co want that.
I'd be happy to help, if need be

Jabberwock,
You are doing a great job with these Region link errors.
Question :
Will there be one download available with all of the Region fixed link errors, or are just individuals zips as they are fixed.
Thanks
Chamberlain

One download. Testing it now. I will post it soon.

Excellent, Jabberwock.
I think there are still some problems around Papin, MO though...
Region 933: one-way jump link to region 1033
Region 947: one-way jump link to region 1033
Region 1032: one-way jump link to region 1033
933 is Creston, MO, so that one should be removed from Creston.
947 is Hermitage, MO. Looks like Papin should have a return link.
1032 is Scott, KS. Again, looks like Papin should have a return link.
Also, I noticed the jump link b/w Nevada, MO and Papin, MO has been removed, rather than just having the distance made the same both ways.
Lastly, not sure I agree with removing the water link b/w 630Butler,AL and 1029Meridian,MS, I think again the distance just needed fixing.
Didn't mean to nitpick

. These all seem to be water-related, so maybe I missed some related discussion elsewhere? I am working off the 1.06 files as a base, is that causing confusion?

I reckoned (a Missouri-ism) you would catch the inconsitencies around Papin, but I wanted to get this posted. Meridian does not have a harbor, so the issue there would only affect land units moving by water between there and Butler. Since this is only across a minor river, I believe land movement is all that is appropriate there.

My concern with the Butler/Meridian link is that I don't see how the engine would know that there's a river there (it's just on the map, and there's no region representing minor rivers) unless the link is a jump link. That means the combat factors for crossing a minor river would not be applied - imagine how upset you'd be as the CSA player making a final stand with your back to the Tombigbee, only to be denied the "Minor bonus if attacker crosses the river."

.
However I am only proceeding from educated guesswork here!

I had not thought of that. You are probably correct.

have these changes made it into the official patch yet?
Posted: Sat Aug 18, 2007 7:33 pm
by Jabberwock
I don't believe so. Now that I know a little more about JumpLinks, I can state that PeterD was correct. Gray_Lensman is working on these issues using the map editor, which is a much better way to do it than editing notepad files. I think Ageod needs the work done with the map editor before they can add it to a patch.

No, repeating what JW just said (if I'd only read it first) Gray_Lensman is compiling the various broken links and fixing them. As I understand it, he will upload it to AGEod and I believe they will incorporate it into an official patch. Until then, we have to make file changes ourselves.
