Great Lakes and Naval Units

Let's try this once again.

I know how to move shallow draft units through the Erie Canal.

The USS Michigan is in Erie, PA. Exactly how do I get this ocean going vessel to the ocean?

I have a monitor built at Niagara, NY. It obviously won't cross the Falls to get to get to Erie, PA, and I haven't found an east coast box , when clicked the ship will travel to. Exactly how do I get the Monitor into either the Ohio lake system or to coastal waters?

Thanks in advance,
Daniel

Yeah. What Daniel said.

Somebody posted that you can move ships from the Great Lakes to the Atlantic, but it doesn't work for me. I'd sure like toassign the Michigan to blockade duty...

I once had Rafael Semmes recovering from wounds in Toronto. Couldn't get him out of the port. Why he went to Canada is beyond me, but he was stuck there for the remainder of the game.

You can, via the Erie Canal, the Ohio, the Mississippi and the Gulf...all connected (just make sure no portion is frozen)...except may be the USS Michigan is too big to navigate the canal...I'll double check this :cwboy:

The Michigan is ocean going only per my original post so it won't go though the Erie canal.

The monitor built in Niagara can't move into Lake Erie, so it also can't go through the canal.

Phillipe, how do I send you a saved game that has the units locked in the Great Lakes per my original post?

I've also got Raphael recovering in Toronto. I don't think he's coming back.

Jeff Davis approved the move to take advantage of the lower medical costs in Canada, what with their great universal medical coverage system. Trouble is he won't get in to be treated till May of 1866.
