gave a division a march order from Richmond to Nashville

142 days
83 days with rail

isn´t that a little bit too much? it didn´t take that long

When you switched to rail move, did you re-do the move? If you tell an army to march from one place to another, it'll take the fastest route marching. If you then just click the rail move button, it keeps the same route, just uses rail move where it can. To get the unit to use the best possible rail movement, you need to click on rail move, then reset the move by dropping the unit in it's starting region and redoing the move. It should take roughly 21-24 days to make that move by rail.

yes, the pathfinder won't abort your move and redraw one, in many occurences this would bother the player.
