*** Birth of America incremental patch 1.04b readme ***
Saturday, March 25, 2006

This patch is aimed to fix a serious bug preventing renamed savegames to receive events from the script engine.

This is an incremental patch: it means that you must be in 1.04 to use this patch. You BoA version will show 1.04b at the bottom right of the screen while loading.

100% compatible with 1.04, but if you have renamed a saved game, it is better to restart fresh. Sorry for that! :siffle:

***Bugs fixes***
Renaming a saved game prevented new events to appears.
'Save as' function not working properly (performed a simple save)
Loyalty messages were sometime inversed.
The tooltip dealing with armies postures in the battle report was erroneous.
Indians should not burn any more their former villages.
The winner in combat is now determined in a more logical way.

Note: Modified scenarios will be released by monday. There is some discrepancies here and here in them, keep tuned!

Pocus,

The link resolution is missing the "b" in the filename.

If you don't stop updating the game so often, you are going to have to build in an update client directly into the game to check for updates. So, then people will have Windows Update, Symantec Live Update, and Ageod Auto Patch to run once a day! :)

I guess you are supposed to install it on top of the Birth of America folder but the installer adds an extra "\Birth of America" to the target line if you have installed it at another place then the default place making it abit confusing to install.

strange, it proposes me

C:\Program Files\Birth of America

which is the directory where I installed BoA.

You need to install it on top of the Birth of America folder yes.

no, as this is a scripting error, thus it has to wait for monday. With the scenarios newly exported, you will get some other minor fixes, like 2 indians villages in the FIW scenarios (FIW = French Indian War) with the wrong nationality flag, etc.

if you can't wait, the 75 campaign is ok.

If you look at the source of your link at the top youwill see the following:

<div id="post_message_4507"><a href="http://../download_patches/BoA_patch1.04.exe" target="_blank">http://www.ageod.com/download_patches/BoA_Incremental_Patch1.04b.exe</a>

As you can see, while the link TEXT is correct, the target url is actually:

http://../download_patches/BoA_patch1.04.exe

which is only going to be valid if you are on the machine where the patch exists. That's why quoting the link works, because it only copies the text which has the proper link. I hope this is makes sense.

Pocus,

What do you mean when you say "rename" a game. I am playing a PBEM game of "1759 Annus Mirabillis". Our saved game files use that name.
So can we can we download the patch and continue playing?

TIA,
Miles

yes, the name is the original one, so the save is not affected by the bug (di d you have events? if yes then its ok). In 1.04b you can rename safely, but only the host.

1.04b is deprecated, download the full 1.05 patch instead.
