Has anyone playing as the French in the 1755/56 games had the Brits go after Louisburg or Quebec.....the latter in an effective manner?

I play that campaign all the time and the Brits don't try. Well, faily often Wolfe/Lawrence leads a big army across the snow from Halifax toward Quebec and they all die in the wilderness. But that's it. They never take the sea route.

I cut the regulars in L'burg by 1/2 to feed my offensives to Albany as a rule.....and keep a relatively small garrison in Quebec. Does the lack of large armies in these cities make them less suitable targets for the Brits, or does the fact that I invariably take Albany make the battles on the Hudson more important, so less emphasis on the other targets?

I would say the capture of Albany puts a lot of pressure on the British AI, as the city is really a key to all further success and conquest fro Britain in that scenario.

I suppose that because of French successes before 1758, the AI does not have the time to "plan" an amphibious operation against Louisbourg and/or Quebec.

May be you could make the following try: play the French as they did historically and avoid taking Albany...just to see how the AI builds up

If we still do not see naval operations in the Gulf of the Saint Lawrence, then we can investigate deeper the matter

Sure, sounds like a plan. I'll play defensive and watch. No one else commented, so perhaps it is just a result of the aggressive French tactics I choose.

I've had the same problem...but maybe that's becasue i was in Boston and New York by 1759

I plan to check again the Naval AI, that deserves some attention it seems...
