Where to go from here?

I just played my first GC (1775 Americans). Prior to this, I had only played the short games of 6-12 turns.

Well, it was nice to win the first time out. The British capitulated in July of 1782 with a final score of 3122:1180.

Settings were:

Difficulty: Normal
AI Aggressiveness: Normal
AI Detect Bonus: No
Use All Behaviors: Yes
Activation Rule: On
FOW: On
Additional AI think time: On

So, where do I go from here for increase challenged in terms of tweaking the game settings? What do you veterans recommend?

Of course, another thing which I could do for challenge would be to see how quickly I could force a capitulation in my next game?

Thanks.

you are using the level where the AI has no advantages. As you know, an AI can't be compared to the human mind, so I suggest playing on Hard Difficulty with a little Detect bonus too.
Try the english also, they are harder to play I would say.

I just completed the 1775 GC as the British with the same options. The Rebels capitulated (sudden death) in less than three years. Personally, I found it easier, since despite the Americans being swifter and having better intel, my approach is to destroy the enemy's armies. The British are powerful and make quick work of destroying the colonials. Also, I didn't have to deal with the tiresome problem of your armies evaporating every December and then having to go round up the troops every January.

I am wondering if I should try it again with increased difficulty or go play the other GC with French versus the British.

Play the French in the FIW scenario. That will probably keep you on your toes. Play an email game.
