How well written is the manual, and is there a sample manual I can download and look at before purchase?

Also does it let you fight then entire Rev. War?

lastly would you say this game is too complex or just right? By too complex i mean that in some cases, Battles in Normandy and Battles in Italy can give me fits on occasion.

There is a little bit TOO much there for me to wrap my head around. I can play it but I had to really study the manual and repeat the tutorials over and over before it clicked.

The demo has the manuals... And you will see with it how the game play, even if the demo is limited in scope.

For the rest, I let the players respond...

The game is a classic "simple to learn, difficult to master" type of game. The actual rules are fairly simple, yet capture the historical realities of the era quite nicely. It is difficult to master because you really must plan and anticipate the movements of your opponent, both human and AI, which is no slouch. BOA is in no way a WITP, which is a good thing imo. You can play the entire American Revolution as well as the entire French and Indian War. I highly encourage you to give it a try if you have any interest in the era.
