Hi,
Was just curious as to the reasoning behind stack entrenchment values when merging/unmerging with another stack while in the same region.
Ie. I can have a stack with level 4 entrenchment that I drag onto a newly arrived stack and all entrenchment is lost. Why is that? Firstly it is daft if you drag them the wrong way by mistake (rather than merging the new arrival into the old) as I have done several times!
Secondly, why can newly arrived units merge and instantly gain level whatever entrenchments - even a single subunit stack can have level 4 for example and a whole division merges with it and gains instant fortifications at level 4?
Also, how do these entrenchments suddenly disappear? Why can't a unit arriving a month later simply occupy them if we presume units tend to gather near cities etc within the regions? Surely a more sensible way would be for a 'permanent' fortification value to get attached to a region that gradually decays over time if not used/ maintained by sufficient numbers of men, still limited by the yearly maximum fort levels now implemented.
I appreciate a more flexible system would perhaps be difficult to manage/program but currently it makes little sense to me that fortifications can be instantly gained/lost in such a manner.
