Help getting started

Tue May 06, 2008 1:54 am

Hi all. I am a Birth of American vetran trying to get into ACW B&G. Looks great but it is a little overwhelming at first. I was wondering it anyone would care to offer some "middle of the road advice" for recruitment and fund raising policy for the first year or two as the Union. As with games of this scale it is hard to judge the economic choices until you have played into it for a while.

Any thoughts on naval production in the early stages woudl also be appreciated.

Thanks.
George

Well speaking from my pretty limited experience it's hard to go wrong as the Union economically versus the AI from what I saw.

My first Union full campaign I took the low-end economic options as I wanted to see how the game developed (although the AI goes all out for everything it can get I think). Built some factories but from what I saw you hardly need them.

Increase your rail and water transport capacity. I found I liked making amphibious landings so built lots of river and sea transports which are also a cheaper way of building depots for advanced forces rather than burning supply wagons.

Built a fair few blockade squadrons to sit in the boxes and annoy the rebels!

Pretty much do what you want against the AI as the Union is the general message I think. Your incoming supplies are so high that mistakes seem easily made up for.
