American Civil War Leader issues....

Thu Nov 15, 2012 11:29 pm

OK. Thanks Kensai for the information and the files. :)
I placed the 1850 leader file into VGN/includes directory.
I also placed the script you sent me into the USA Civil War events file. I assume that would be the correct location.....if not let me know.
The turn from my friend was then received and then I ran the game.
I see when one goes to the Scripted Events Messages for the game the text...'Civil War Updated Leaders Pool for Union (1860)' is listed. Now I don't see any leaders yet for the Union player, or does that happen later?
Also, should not a similar text script file be created for the CSA?

My friend with the last turn file sent to me (before I had placed in the new files you had sent me and ran the game) informed me of the following...

1-Jefferson Davis has appeared, as the commander of the Confederate army in Virginia. As you know, Davis was the president, not a general! Maybe he should have been, as because I have no generals, he won his first two battles.

2-The final thing is I am seeing 0 net officers created each turn, and -8 soldiers, which means my army is getting smaller without even fighting, and I cannot do any recruiting or replacing of losses.

3-I saw in the turn summary that we had sold Gold to the Confederate States of America.

I assume that #2 issue would be resolved with the files I have now placed into the game.

Thanks again for your assistance.

OK an update. Two turns afterwards...there are now 3 new Union leaders which is good. However one of them is R.E.Lee. Should he not be in grey?
Anyway the South from what I understand still does not have any leaders except for Jefferson Davis with a military command. Can one or rather should one create a script for the CSA to have leaders to appear?
Two more things...
1-On the diplomatic window there is no leader in charge of the CSA as yet. I assume since Jeff Davis is having a military command he cannot go and goven the country at this time.
2-James Buchanan is still the president of the USA. I have not heard from the person I am playing against if Lincoln had an an election and lost it to Buchanan.
Thanks for any assistance that can be given....

The war starts at a random time (there is a random chance each turn starting in 1859), and thus is not tied to the election of Lincoln. Also, your army has grown too large, and thus you get no conscripts or officers. This is a side result of what happens in the game at the start of the war and the army increase. Not that this is the best option, but this is what happens to you. If you were to disband some units, you could get officers and conscripts again, but this is not a good optoin either. I don't know how many units you would have to disband to get your conscripts/officers back in shape.

Ok again many thanks to Kensai for giving me the information/script so I was able to have my friend who has the USA to have generals appearing for both him of the Union and for the CSA. Now a slight anomaly appeared. Evidently there are two General Twiggs. One for the Union and one for the South. As per my friend's last comment they both, with their respected armies, are marching towards each other so they will possibly have a battle soon....
I advised my friend probably this happened because of the script that was introduced to assist both the USA and the CSA to have leaders for their armies.
I also said he will soon have the Battle of the Twiggs.... ;)

One way to fix this (but before it happened) is to change the DateIn appearance dates for the USA generals that are also at CSA at after 1865, to avoid the possibility of "twin brothers" fighting each other! :p
