I am reading "To the Gates of Richmond" by Stephen Sears.

Map on page 101 shows a railroad going from Fredericksburg to Aqula Creek Station on the Rapahannock in March-June 62. It does not show the railroad from Manassas into Stafford.

If this map is correct, a railroad should go from Fredericksburg into Stafford to the Rapahannock River. The railroad from Manassas into Stafford should not exist.

So a railroad link between Fredericksburg and Stafford but no railroad link between Manassas and Stafford.

Is this already in your railroad fixes?

Where would I find the most complete RR fix available?

It also shows the Virginia Central Railroad running from Hanover Junction to Gordonsville. Amherst, Va should have a railroad connecting Charlottsville to Louisa, Va region. Just as depicted on the ACW map.

My version of ACW has the railroad removed at Amherst. That doesn't agree with Stephen Sears map.

Again this map depicts the rails existing in March-Jun 62.

Keep up the good work, because accurate railroads are important when talking about Civil War strategy.

I second this
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

Hi Gray Lensman,I'm not sure but I don't think the railway between Gettysburg and Chambersburg was completed till after the war.

This is good work you're doing, Gray :)

Since I'm curious; Which criterea do you use whether to include a railroad or not? Built before the war? Built before the end of the war? Other criterea?

I'm tending to lean towards the first year or so of the war, because this is a game, and the rails built during the war would have been heavily influenced by the positioning of the armies, so if you are playing as the CSA and winning, I think it would be rather foolish to have a rail in the game that was built by the Union in an area that your game CSA controls.

Right.

Gray are you actually redrawing the map?

If so, could you please add the text to the state of West Virginia? :)

Hi gray lensman, in the 26 volume set on the civil war by Time Life Books,at the start of each volume there is a good overall view of maps of different areas showing civil war railroads.

Gray_Lensman wrote:GShock: Yes I'm redrawing parts of the map associated with the Rail system and in a few cases have even graphically identified some small towns that didn't seem to have names associated with them. I'm also trying to touchup a few non-rail graphic anomalies when I run across them, and have the time, such as what you have just mentioned. Give me more specifics ASAP, as I just finished West Virginia, and I am getting ready to move on to Maryland/Virginia when I return from Shiloh.

If you look at Virginia State, you will see on the map the text V I R G I N I A while if you look to Western Virginia, you will not see it.
I'm speaking on map about the identification name of all states and i think WV is the only state where the ID text is missing (I actually had to ask in forums "which state is this green color coded with WV abbreviation"?) :)

Another issue in the same area is Allegany (PA) in color-codes this seems to be (MD) but it's (PA). Pocus said this bug is uneventful but still he was unable to fix it.

Of course they do :)

Well, the missing text of WV is just that...a text. Easy to patch if the devs want to...as of Allegany, there's a real mistery there which includes railroads and there's surely a bug in those files, you're right it most certainly has nothing to do with colors. I've documented my experiments on this region here: http://www.ageod-forum.com/showthread.php?p=51693#post51693 (took me 15 minutes to find it!)
