Patch today?

Fri Sep 14, 2007 11:09 am

Seems I remember Pocus stating that there was a 90% chance of a patch by end of this week. If not, could Pocus at least tell if some of the MOD ideas (weather, leaders, etc) will be made official in this one. I have been waiting to play when that happens.

GBS, I want to answer this in a balanced way for you, and for the community, really. It's really directed out at everyone who asks about patches, because it's been going on in other threads.

I can certainly understand holding off on playing. I am working on several mods (for the community) and it holds me off from just playing. I'd love to just receive the work of AGEod and others and just play!! But no...

Anyhow, the point is this - the devs are deep on new projects and will update AACW when they can do so. It is really in our best interest to not create an atmosphere where they feel pestered about timelines. I've seen it at other company's boards and it drives them nuts, and in the end saps their will to deal with updating the game itself.

Rest assured, when they get the time to compile the update, they will do so. Until then, think about what you folks can do to further the game for all of us, because more and more it will devolve upon the work we do as a community to improve AACW.

Hear, hear, PBBoeye. :hat: And let's give them time to answer all my dumb questions in the beta forum, too, please... :sourcil: :niark:

Joking aside, for the moment: gbs, I concur with PBB, While it can sure be a very satisfying feeling to have a community eagerly awaiting updates and loudly expressing this eagerness (as it shows the developers that they made a first class product which really gets their costumers on the hook and doesn't let go of them :) ), the same display can become something of a distressing factor when they are hard pressed for time like now, being in the middle of preparing the next game for release, when new small issues raise their ugly heads and betas are yelling for them to be adressed ASAP every other minute  . Between a rock and a hard place, so to speak, drawing flak from every angle. We are talking of a rather small staff that has to distribute its time on various projects (AACW only being one of them) at the same time, too.

But then again, they are to blame, too, for it is them who continue to spoil us with excellent support in the first place. ;)

Regards, Henry :)

P.S.: Please note that the promise of a patch by end of this week still stands, for in europe, "end of the week" is usually considered to be on sunday, not friday.

A running joke on the Il2 boards about patches... "Two weeks, be sure." (small attempt at humor)

Would a new patch hurt an in progress PBEM. I'm about to start one with my War in the Pacific opponent, so I'm curious.

Thanks for the replys. I understand and didn't mean to be a pest. I recently reinstalled and and patched the game because I did something wrong while installing MODs ( the Experimental one I believe) and could not start the game. So, I started all over. The only MOD I now have installed is Jabberwach's work on General portraits. It looks like the Experimental MOD includes some changes in the Weather and it includes the Leader enhansement MOD. Am I correct. I must have made an error in the instalation of this Mod at last attempt. Could someone please direct me to a thread or something that gives pretty explisit instructions on installation. I would also appreciate any other Mod recommendations on any other good Mods that have been tried. There has been quite a bit of discussion on artillery but has this actually made it to Mod form yet? Thanks. (excuse spelling)

This is the *official* path undertaken by the U.S. Army with AAO:

Q: When will you release next patch?

A: When it's ready.

Period.

It Works! :) :) :)

I try to promise things that I can hold, so yes a public beta (and somehow instable) 1.07 patch will be out within a few hours.
