low fps / lag on windows 10 (steam edition)

Sun Dec 25, 2016 9:20 pm

Hey there,
I'll just copy my post from the steam forum here http://steamcommunity.com/app/374380/discussions/0/154644705028910293/

Every time I hit start in the game launcher, it takes ~5 seconds to start the game. In the menu I get 25 fps. When I start a missions, it's ~10 fps.
I tried to change the solution and did some other changes in the games system options, those in the game launcher and those ingame.
Can someone please give me some advice or ideas how to get more fps? I really want to play this game.

My System:
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~2.4GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670MX
Display Memory: 5547 MB

First of all, the framerate should be no problem when it comes to animations, but the game doesn't run smooth. When I zoom in or out, when I move the mouse cursor and when textboxes show up, there is a significant delay or "lag" of ~1 second which totally ruins the game experience.

What I did now:
- Put the game on my anti--virus exceptions list.
- Set AGESettings.exe, autorun.exe and RUS.exe to XP SP3 compatibility mode.
- Deactivated Steam Overlay and VR.

The result was:
- Game resolution was lowered, no more 16:9. (no big problem for me)
- No changes to framerate. (checked it with fraps)
- No changes to delay / lag ingame.

Any more ideas? :-/

I have no clue how things run on Steam, that said, try these things:
1. Make sure you have maximized the memory you can allocate to the game in the Options settings.
2. Always run in Admin mode. Do this with a right mouse click selecting Run as Admin.

If these do not work, check back.

Hey,
I have maximized the memory in the Options settings and run it in Admin mode.
Unfortunately this doesn't change anything.

Is the game still in development / are there updates to come?

Medium to large texture size. The more zoom in on the map the smoother the game. The game can get a slight stutter but only occasionally.

Thx, but the game still doesn't run smooth after changing the texture size to medium or large. The delay of 1-2 seconds when moing the mouse or opening ingame texboxes with F1-10 won't go away.
I also made some changes in the NVIDIA System Options, but without any positive changes.
I think I have to refund the game. :(

After I disabled "drawing borders" the game ran a little bit smoother but still far from acceptable.

. Your graphic card should be still (just) good enough for the game, but maybe it's beginning to fail? (it's not very young)
. Maybe your cpu is not powerfull enough (number of core is irrelevant for AGE games), less than 3 GHz is not very good nowadays, so you must have a very expensive laptop if you want to play goodly.

I doubt it's because of the system, especially when I compare it to other games and applications which are running smooth. Maybe I'll give the game a second chance when / if I get a new Laptop. For now I have to refund it, even if I really would like to play it.

Have you tried playing it on a desktop ? Laptops often bring along a host of undetectable problems.

Also, are you running in Admin Mode. What you post as a problem I have never seen, and I play on a laptop.

before you start a game, press ctrl + alt + del, and then select task manager, to just look how much resources of your pc are used (memory, cpu, idealy core by core), you can use cpuid hw monitor for very easy to see core by core usage (but no memory usage).

and then play game for some time , and then just alt tab to task maneg to see how much resources are you using (memory, cpu), if they are booth 100, 90, or less %.
if they are at low usage, then problem lies elsevhere (like mentioned not enough powerfull singe core), conflicting/out of date graphic card drivers, or mayby something else is srewing up your pc.

i have similiar PC to yours (faster cpu, but less powerfull gk) and play without any problems. and i play on W10.

Old topic bump. But it's probably the same subject.

Something I've experienced myself:
If game feels laggy or just awfully slow when moving a mouse (scrolling) remember there are "hidden" options you CAN change.
In fact it not "hidden" - but game does not display them in "OPTIONS" table.
You need to change them manually in game files.

Find game folder: Revolution under Siege Gold\RUS\Settings\ HERE

Find file: General.opt

Change numbers to your liking. Of course BACK UP that file before editing in case you spoil something ;)

My preferred values:

LogBatch = 450
MemUsage = 50 (that CAN be change in game)
ScrollAmount = 600 (fast scrolling), standard was 200, so it's 3 times faster
ScrollDelay = 5 (it starts scrolling map faster), standard was 100!
ScrollIncrease = 10 (increase speed of scrolling during scrolling ), standard was 4

And I use borderless window when playing (makes wonders during alt-tab!).

Find file: Display.opt

FullScreen = 0
Windowed = 1
Borderless = 1

HTH as it helped me!

Tested with non Steam Win 7 laptop.

Yes, "if feeling laggy or slow".
My scrolling wasn't feeling slow, but I however tested your values and they were far too fast for me,
so I almost revert back to default (at now I'm good with scroll 220/55/5).

I'm glad you've found your own values.
