Problem with Regional Decisions

Mon Jan 11, 2016 2:18 am

Has anyone experienced the Regional decisions appearing but not getting implemented?

I have examples of Habeas Corpus, Draft, and Partisans, and others appearing as "added 4 turn(s) ago and ending in -3 turns"....negative number.....started in year 1863....I did have to recover after a crash.... :bonk:

Sounds like a bug. Maybe you should go back a few turns...

I have another question about RGDs, specifically the cavalry Screen and Recon. Presumably the change in detect/hide values occurs on the next turn. Doesn't help a whole lot for the kind of moving stacks that will have gone a region or more beyond the range limits of the RGD

Yes.

As I scroll through the line item announcements at the bottom of the page, I see where several of my RGB actions were a) not valid or b) unsuccessful. I think that's part of the risk.

When they fail the icon should disappear, not persist with a negative ETA. Something is rotten in Denmark...

Some if not most of the RGD's are not automatic. Originally, failed cards would return until they succeeded, like sea mines. However, this was sort of an exploit, so it was discontinued.

Here's one way to report an actual bug:

Logically, your side can only present a cavalry screen out to a short distance from your lines.

JMcD, can you post a screenshot of that, and maybe upload the script file for a turn when that was processed? I believe a negative number would indicate that the RGD has gone past its normal duration, but that shouldn't happen unless something is busted.

Indeed. But if the force is moving, the screen should move as well. For instance, when Hood invaded Tennessee in the Franklin-Nashville campaign, he was screened by Forrest's and Wheeler's cavalry, and the Federals were very much in the dark about the size and location of the Army of Tennessee until it was almost too late. These RGDs are static modifiers in a fluid system, and can only act behind a mobile force. I guess it would work better if it could be played on a stack and change it's detection or hide values - but that's not practicable in the current engine.

As for the sea mines mentioned by another, do they persist for the entire turn they're played (and thus interdict anything passing through that region) or only affect ships that start in that sea zone?

My experience was that you could place them where the enemy had ships in port. Originally if they didn't work, you could place them again in the future. This was changed to single use, go or no go.

Yeah, that's busted. I haven't had that problem before with the regional decisions. I suspect it will be restricted to that save game. You really want to look at the script report and see what it says. The main log probably won't show anything useful in this case. That regional decision references an event called "RGDScriptUSPartisansCreate".
