Can you post your saved game (with at least one backup, ie backup1 subfolder ?)

Thanks

The problem seems to come from this

10:31:17 PM [Error ] THost.LoadHostFile Exception caught: Impossible d'ouvrir le fichier "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Alea Jacta Est\AJE\Saves\4-YearFourEmperors680\4-YearFourEmperors68.hst". The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process

You AV or Windows UAC should prevent AJE program to access to this save.

Could you mark AJE.exe has a exception for your AV or UAC ?

Installing your game anywhare else than C: should help too.

or add userpath.ini so that the saves are saved in User directory, as recommended by Microsoft.

Hello,

Thanks I tried this but it doesn't seem to work? The game is still saving itself.

I can't seem to attach my save it says its an invalid file?

Many thanks.

- game installation: I think with Steam you cannot install anywhere else than the default Steam folder

- UAC: My personal, non-official advice: turn Windows UAC Off, pure and simply. That was the first thing I did in all my PCs whether with Windows 7 or 8.

- AV: depending on your AV program it may vary, but there should be a setting or definition that allows you to exclude any specific folder or file from real-time scanning. You should be able, for example, to exclude from real-time scanning the whole C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps folder.

Regards

(Regarding your saved game, you should be able to post your save folder in zip format, no ? If too big, make a copy of the folder, delete all backup subfolders except backup1 and zip it)

and my non official answer is the same as Franciscus. I have UAC turned entirely off since years. And I never sent any virus in any installer I built ;)

Hello, I have tried turning the UAC off but I still can't play the turn. Am I to assume that this game is now lost and that the problem won't happen again?

I have this happen about once an hour or so on my older 32bit laptop with 3GB RAM. Im assuming the game needs more RAM than the system has. I just close the game, relaunch it and continue.

Hmmm. You only sent one file, the OTH.ord file, that is not enough...

Anyhow, my sugestion is to accept the probable loss of your current turn, but you can probably recover your last turn before the problem, You can do this either in the Load Game menu - selecting your saved game from the list and hitting "Home" key - or directly in your saved game folder - copying the contents of backup1 subfolder to your saved game folder, replacing files as needed)

Hello,

I started a new game with the same scenario and it crashed! I have attached the main log text file as the game instructed me to do.

Ps. I turned UAC off and set my AV to not scan the Alea Jacta Est file in real time.

Thanks

The issue is the same. Please exempt all your Steam folder from the AV/malware scanning software...
