PBEM How to?

Does a list of instructions exist for "How to do PBEM"? I own the boxed version of CW2. Apparently, the instructions in the printed manual are totally incorrect and I was unable to participate in the tournament because of this. I am looking for one official list of instructions with nothing taken for granted. Thank you!
