Gem in the Rough

Sun Oct 27, 2013 2:11 am

This is my first AGEOD game and I find it quite enjoyable. A few observations/questions:

1. Is there any way to turn off the black regional information box during the resolution of orders? It very annoying as often the box obscures or blocks the messages across the screen.

2. Is there any way to display the key board short cuts on the screen? This would be very useful.

3. It would be nice if the Enter button could close the text and message boxes rather than having move the mouse to the small "X" and then having to click to close.

4. Is there any way to filter the units on the main map rather than having to exit to the smaller map, first. Also, it would be useful to have some sort of visual cue to indicate if a stack, especially in a structure has a unit capable of moving.

5. It is possible to load and transport fixed units on ships and move them; I discovered this by mistake when I transferred a fixed garrison including cannons from New York (IIRC) to the Union fort near Hampton Roads. This probably should not be allowed to happed.

6. No replay for PBEM? Really???

Great game :)

I may be able to answer some of your questions.

1) Move the mouse over the small jump map at the bottom left after you hit end turn and you won't have the mouse-over map to contend with. Use the escape key to close any pop-up windows during turn resolution, do not move the mouse off the jump map or you are back to the mouse-over pop-up issue.

3) Escape key

4) Any unit that does not have a red stripe on it can move. There are some arrows above the unit window pane that allow you to jump through units that have not moved yet. looks like this << < . > >> click the << or >> to jump from the current stack to the next or last. You have to select a stack first for these to work though, would be nice if clicking it without a stack selected worked.

5) Haven't confirmed this but it's a bug if this works. A fixed unit in a stack is supposed to prevent the entire stack from moving.

6) there is a thread asking for it to come back, go vote +1 if you haven't already.

3. Right mouse click anywhere on the message box and battle window does the trick as well.

4. shortcuts e and r for land, and y and x for naval cycle through unlocked units as well

5. Prevents movement - perfectly logical to me.

6. +1

Thanks - getting rid of the black box is very gratifying. It would be nice if someone
could make a list of all the undocumented short cuts; I blundered onto one last night which seems to be a programmers development tool which lists all of the technical programming attributes of a region and pending events. I forgot the keys but am sure I will find it again.
