Question on Tooltip Comment

Mon May 07, 2007 1:40 am

What does the highlighted (red) area mean in this shot?

Image

Does it have to do with control of the region? Could someone offer up a clear explanation of what this means?

Thanks in advance,

Alan

I could be wrong, but I think it means that the unit in question would take 26 days in order to move from it's present region into the region the tool tip is referring to.

 Never saw something like it. It looks like a bug to me.
Forrest said something about killing a Yankee for each of his horses that they shot. In the last days of the war, Forrest had killed 30 of the enemy and had 30 horses shot from under him. In a brief but savage conflict, a Yankee soldier "saw glory for himself" with an opportunity to kill the famous Confederate General... Forrest killed the fellow. Making 31 Yankees personally killed, and 30 horses lost...

He remarked, "I ended the war a horse ahead."

We need to know a bit more about the tooltip...for instance which unit is currently selected ? which side is being played ?

Suppose your stack has lowest spped (wheeled units), then the cost for entering a region with mud conditions (10 days) + major river crossing (8 days) is not far from the figure indicated... we'll double check this, but would appreciate a save of the current situation...

I sent the save to support@ageod.com.

Here's another screen of the same situation, this time showing what's in the stack selected. With a 35% command penalty and a few rivers to cross (plus artillery), 26 days probably is close to the truth

I don't see any bug there, what is wrong exactly? -35% speed from command, weather is mud and you have troops with very low cohesion (exhausted and/or demoralized)

I don't think (from the original poster's comment) that he thought it was a bug, rather he was wondering what it meant?

Especially that the text is red, and not the usual white :)

Yeah. I wasn't even thinking it was a bug. With those rivers around and the mud and types and shape of troops, the amount of days didn't seem excessive.

All I wanted to know was what the tooltip meant. I ignored the obvious meaning and thought the tip releated to how long it would take the region to become totally Union controlled.

Especially that the text is red, and not the usual white

Were you serious about this? I see the smiley but wasn't sure. The red text (as you might already know) was but in by me.

mmmh... in all tooltip you get to see the cost to enter the region you point at, anything wrong there?

There must be some sort of language barrier going on here. All I asked about the tooltip was what the highlighted red text meant. I mentioned nothing about a bug, or whether the tip or information was appropriate or not.

No worries,
Pocus thinks every post is about a bug, he's seeing bugs in his sleep :siffle:

When you changed the text to red, it looked like a bug to some.

Anyway, back to working on bio's... :bonk:

yes, I admit that I believed that you had a bug, also you send me the saved game, so my hardwired neurons triggered a pavlovian response on that: saved game = bug :)

Well, I sent the file because someone recommended that I do so. When I posted, I did not have a bug in mind, but only wanted some information. But when someone mentioned that the 26 days might be a bug, I sent it along.

No harm done, hopefully. Considering that the unit had to cross the river twice and in inhospitable conditions, I didn't think that 26 days was too much.

Well what does the red text mean? the suspense is killing me. is it because the movement will take longer than a turn?

Alan made the text red for the screenshot, so that we'd see it easier. (but it just confused people :niark: )
It is not red in the game.

He wanted to know what "Number of days to enter this region (only): 26" meant.

The answer?....... :siffle:

It's the same number of days that is displayed when you drag a unit on the map.
It is on the tool-tip also.
