Assault and Stosstrupen use

Thu May 30, 2013 12:14 am

This may sound stupid but I am not sure how to use them. The manual talks about placing them with corps and changing the corps into assault corps. I have tried using them as support units like artillery. Sometimes I can and sometimes I cannot. I do understand how to develop them and build them. I do not know how to use them. Any help would be appreciated.

You know Jack, I had never noticed that section 19.9 re: Assault Troops + Intact Corps = Assault Corps and have always used them exactly as you describe above. I don't think that you can merge the two units.

Too bad I do not have a game on the go that can test this out - yet.

Sorry, can't help you here...

So you use them as support units (like artillery)? Which means if you use assault troops you cannot use artillery?

No, one goes on the Tank spot and the remainder sit in reserve but I do not think that you can place them there in all battle situations. You should see the small tank icon showing a positive modifier if I recall correctly.

If i am not wrong, you need GRAND offensive with infiltration research and Strosstruppen research to implement this.
