please explain?

Can someone explain the shortness of two and three year scenarios? Seems they end just when things get going...
and
Can we get an option to continue the game when the scenarios end?

Normally scenarios reflect the duration of the actual conflict. You can just continue after a scenario ends although you won't see many (if any) new events and you may get an end game message at the end of each turn (not sure about this).
