King Philip's War graphics help

Wed Jul 06, 2011 5:38 pm

Hi folks, I'm just making a small WiA scenario for King Philip's War. If anyone is able to amend the two sets of graphics below slightly to make a more Puritan look I would be very grateful. I can probably come up with something myself if nobody has time but I know there are a few more competent than me :)
Examples :-

This one could be a little darker as well.

I won't be asking for any other graphics for the scenario but these  (Well maybe one or two at most :) )
Thanks, Chris

Sorry, can't help. But looking forward to this new scenario all the same.

I thought I may as well post this pic as well in case anyone is able to make anything like the unit on the left - or amend an existing WiA mounted unit to look anything like the horseman on the right of the image - they would be very handy for 17th century scenarios! Obviously not using these exact images - but it is the sort of unit that would be very nice to have.

Would like to help you Hobbes, but this is beyond what I can do :(

Perhaps Pangi or OAM will step in? :)

Hi Hobbes,

Just saw your request. Will give a quick try then post so you can provide further instructions. Currently photoshoping the Joseph Broussard counter, the French Acadian leader of a native partisan unit (Mi'kmaq).

Hi Carilloneur, it's a nice graphic but I worry that there may be copyright issues using a graphic like that + it's not really in the same style as other graphics in the game. I'm really after either a change to an existing AGEOD graphic or a 'hand made' graphic in the same style.

The actual look though is exactly the sort of thing I am after if it could be created by a graphics artist. I should have mentioned the above when you said that you were photoshoping a counter - but it didn't register for some reason. If I can't get what I am after I will have a go myself and the graphic will be very useful for that.

Thanks, Chris

Well I managed to copy Pangi's hat onto my single militia unit (sort of).
That's about the limit of my ability.

If anyone feels like amending this graphic (maybe make it a bit darker) - anything you think may improve it please do so and re-post.

Being a pedant I notice that Discipline is missing the : in the details screen above + the right hand side has a space after the : while the left hand side does not (apart from Ranged Damage and Assault Damage) :)

So, too, with "Is a supportNo" immediately to its right. That sort of stuff has been bothering my hypercritical eye for ages. I'm hopelessly detail-oriented, the trees obscure the forest, I can't help it. :(

My employer needs this trait in me. If I don't do my job right -- an IT job requiring unflagging and careful attention to detail -- we maybe don't open for business in the morning (we're offline), and the company is possibly placed in jeopardy.

And my demi-profession -- programming -- certainly requires this. A missing or misplaced semicolon or a misspelled identifier, and the code won't compile.

OCD -- it's a way of life.

AFAIK, Those strings are in the LocalStrings__AGE.csv file, and are thus the domain of The Master.

I'll negotiate a dispensation to edit same..... :neener:

I have the same line of work - but I wonder how something like OCD appears through Natural Selection - and why it is a trait that only seems to have been recognised in recent years? It's not pleasant to have but I don't think it is a disorder.

Outside of my IT/programming, where it's a requirement, I don't really have clinical OCD. I'm a loner, and have an independent streak a mile long, but other than that -- I'm a pretty normal guy.

I suppose even straightening a picture on a wall could be classified as OCD.
I think it is in everyone - just more so in some than others.

Cheers, Chris

Text in LocalStrings is correct, so it's an "Edit the Front End" task. :(
I sent an inquiry to The Master, so stay tuned.... :)

...by the way, you two are not really OCD, as you would have noticed and commented on the missing icons for Strength, Men, Horses etc. :neener:

I can't see any missing icons for Strength, Men or Horses! Maybe your OCD levels are higher than ours Lodi?

If you have The Master's ear can you give it a pinch and keep hold of it until he reverses Athena's lobotomy please. I assume he is still busy with moving house?

Cheers, Chris
