I am a Mac guy - run a Bootcamp partition with Win7 for games so I don't do any file management stuff on it.

My problem - when I try to copy VGN folder after it asks if I want to replace and etc. and I say yes for all, it then tells me it will take many hours and the processor starts heating up and the fans starting firing away with very slow copying one file at a time. I've done similar copy/replace in the past on huge folders and it took minutes at most.

I don't get it and consequently have not been able to update PoN or play.

Any ideas? Thanks

michael

It will take some time because there are tens of thousands of files. Perhaps is your antivirus checking the process?

I guess the patch file was corrupted, should be 158 MB (166.293.713 bytes)

Yes, looks like the zip file I ended up with was incomplete, either the original download or the extraction failed to work properly.

I have just gone through the whole thing with a new zip file/extracted files and the game has now started up okay...

I was wondering if we could get this thread stickied? Then there would be an Official thread for Pride of Nations patches.
Press on. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: Nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not: Unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not: The world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. --Calvin Coolidge

would be highly desirable,

but i suggest if you want to open an "OFFICIAL" thread for patches, open a NEW (but still public) one, where no one but Phil and Pocus or their aide-de-camp make any posts.

unless you want the same mess like at the PARADOX forum where people know, there is a new patch, but where the heck it is hidden in all this comments, or download the next visible patch for eyes are bigger than the hunger for bug-fixes

as Pocus corrected my partially wrong impression and even added the BETA patch, he made my simple advise to kind of official thread

wish a nice an sunny weekend to all ;)

PS:

why we dont have a thread about the nomination for the golden joystick here...

jesus, everything needs to be quoted by the gamers themselves
