Manpower and unitpool

Fri Feb 18, 2011 1:31 am

Hi,
a short noob-q:
does a boost of my manpower (by draft/call for vol.) alter the unitpool?
i have run out of VA brigades - at least the big one, and im wondering if a draft would make some new juice big VA brigades with artillery appear in my unitpool. or is the unitpool more or less static throughout the war?

Best regards...

It's mostly static. I usually mix in building VA brigades with GA, SC, and NC brigades to keep all types available.

thanx for the fast reply cleburne.
i try to mix them too, but i seems to end up with very few of the larger brigades. maybe it has to do with my division composition:

divisions that form corps:
- 10 inf
- 1 ss
- 2 cav
- 4 art

independent divisions:
- 8 inf
- 1 ss
- 2 cav
- 6 art

... and the larger brigades contains the nice art. that are so scarse as the csa.
Is there a better (gresater benefits) way of composing corps/divisions?

Best regards...

I don't know the precise details to it, but I have noticed that after capturing certain border state cities with recruitment centers (the little white tents) there seems to be an increase in the units available in that states pool. I hope I'm not imagining this, but I believe it happens with Jefferson City, MO... and possibly in Kentucky.

The force pools are pretty static, the draft options just give you more men to spend on them. The Union can get some new Colored demibrigades after Emancipation, but they aren't a huge factor.
Don't those big VA brigades only have napoleons anyway?

Hi,
thanx for the replies mortar and Cromagnon.
i have been looking through some of the event files and found the unitpool-events. but these seems to end in fall '61!
are there no new units for the unitspool after 1861? anyone knows?

best regards...
