Fifty-five earlier this month. First wargames were Avalon Hill's 1914 and Jutland, both bought new in 1969. Still have them.

turned 50 last March, I got my first pair of reading glasses recently; actually helps quite a bit with the computer screen. I wish I hadn't been so stubborn...probably need them for a while...lol

I can remember computer wargaming on the Commodore 64 and Amiga computers so long ago...

42 and I too progressed from Avalon Hills and Victory Games probably my two favourites were WWII European Theatre of Operations and a lesser known game called Vietnam 1965-1975 by Victory games probably the mostinnovative game I have ever played, the rules were brilliant in places with vpacification of the populace (Hearts and Minds) between the Viet Cong and the FWA (Free World Alliance), perhaps closer too AGEOD hearts the ARVN (Army of the Republic of Vietnam - The US allied S Vietnamese) required activation (too simulate corruption etc), there was a commitment index which allowed you to spend commitment for units as the US but the higher the cmmitment themore it effects your morale at home which can cost you the game (victory points and national morale), finally the divisions came with breakdown deployments in counters -you could plce a division on the map or break it into individul brigades or even into battalions. The NVA/VC even infiltrate the souths regions, with non-existent units to lure the FWA to commit units too S&D missions against ghost units. Good God I never realised till now this game is made for the AGE game engine - POCUS you really should look into this it was a brilliant game, years ahead of its time, there are really only two sides (different elements/factions of the same two sides NVA/VC, US/ARVN/FWA) but with it being set in Indochina that should generate some interest at home (I believe you are French?) Sorry this isnt the thread for this but I moght look into it some more and post my conclusions somewhere else - Its kinda amazing you start off just mentioning something and then wham - this game was made to be converted to the AGE engine. VG Vietnam has been discussed a number of times before-- I agree entirely that it's a good fit for the AGE engine.

Well, at 46 I started with AH's Outdoor Survival game (I think that's what it was called), but the first wargame was Panzer Leader. I really wanted to start with Squad Leader, but being in the 7th grade at the time, I thought it was too far above me, so I started with something else first. Then I ran right out and got Squad Leader!

I've been playing ever since.

Looks like I'm one of the old geezers at 58. My first real wargame was Avalon Hill's Africa Korps. I also played some wonderful old Milton Bradley games like one on American versus British wooden ships years earlier that used models kind of like Risk. I remember the first wargame I ever saw was an old Avalon Hill title that predated Panzerblitz in a store window in Altheim Austria back around 1964. Good to see new blood coming to an old hobby.

I've never played a war boardgame before (i'm 25), but I would love to have something like that. The closest I've ever gotten to a non-video wargame is Stratego or D&D v3.5. That Guderian game looks awesome though.

- Warhammer (a little) and Man'o'War (maritime version - an awful lot)... not so close to what AGE does
- World War I at Sea : Jutland

For the young guns:
Pong is a two-dimensional sports game which simulates table tennis. The player controls an in-game paddle by moving it vertically across the left side of the screen, and can compete against either a computer controlled opponent or another player controlling a second paddle on the opposing side. Players use the paddles to hit a ball back and forth. The aim is for a player to earn more points than the opponent; points are earned when one fails to return the ball to the other.

I am 16, i don't remember very well but my first strategy game was either Age of Empires II or Empire Earth. I wish i could have played those cool boardgames but only famous or easy boardgames come here. The only strategic boardgame i have is a kind of Risk, and it sucks. Even if there were nice boardgames i don't think i could find someone to play Fortunately Ageod makes very nice wargames and they are not expensive. I hope one day you can make a WW2 game. With Ageod's endless support, this game would rock. I want a real wargame, not HoI3
